NEW this year: In partnership with the ARIANNA alliance the Festival is proud to serve as the first venue in the United States to bring a beautiful Italian tradition, inspired by the Festa dei Banderesi Sfilata held annually in Bucchianico, Abruzzo. Women of the community, dressed in traditional garb, proudly process through the community balancing lush, overflowing floral baskets adroitly on their heads. These captivating displays area feast for the senses! View more on this amazing tradition at the Anne’s Italy website.
Baskets are being created to be carried in the Festa Patronale Feast Day Procession on the closing Sunday of the Festival, 6/19. A preview will be take place as part of the Gala Concert that opens the Festival, which will be held on the opening Sunday, 6/12, at 3PM in the church.
Female students and adults of all ages are encouraged to be part of inaugurating this new parish tradition.
